Predeparture Orientation

The pre-departure orientation is designed to ease the entry of Indian students into American culture and enable them to make the most of their student life in the United States. Participation in the orientation will prepare the Indian students for the academic rigor, to cope with the cultural adjustments and to manage an independent lifestyle in the United States. This will also provide them with an opportunity to meet other students traveling to various universities in the U.S. and create a network of contacts.

Introduction and welcome.

Travel, ticketing, finance, the port of entry procedures, health insurance, etc.

Housing, dining, accommodation and contact details.

Academics – Register for courses, credit system, plagiarism and classroom etiquette.

Coping with the new environment, homesickness, cultural adjustments and holiday utilization.
